Why would Apple hire a luxury fashion CEO?

Apple Hires Yves St Laurent CEO Paul Deneve for Special Projects - "The jobs in high fashion give Deneve experience selling products at a premium price. A pair of women’s shoes from Yves St Laurent cost $625 or more, while a leather jacket from its permanent collection is more than $5,000, according to its website" (source infra). Does this mean Tim Cook's vision for Apple is to become an "exclusive luxury brand" (for iWatches etc)? If so, the path becomes even wider (and easier) for Android and Google. No surprise then, that Apple's stock has been on a BIG decline. AAPL 1-Yr Return: -28.29%
