Jury Awards $119.6 Million, What's It All About Apple?

Jury Finds Samsung Phones Infringe on Several Apple Patents, Awards $119.6 Million | Re/code: "Jury Finds Samsung Phones Infringe on Several Apple Patents, Awards $119.6 Million...."

Expri Editor's Opinion: And THAT was what ALL of this was about? Chump change? The litigation expenses of Apple probably were more than the Jury award. Tim Cook and the current Apple leadership need to pivot like Steve Jobs would have a long time ago -- talk is cheap, lawyers aren't, Steve was a bit of a hothead at times, accusing EVERYONE of stealing his stuff, but he always cooled down and got back to business --

"Their meeting was in Jobs's conference room, where Gates found himself surrounded by ten Apple employees who were eager to watch their boss assail him. Jobs didn't disappoint his troops. "You're ripping us off!" he shouted. "I trusted you, and now you're stealing from us!" Gates just sat there coolly, looking Steve in the eye, before hurling back, in his squeaky voice, what became a classic zinger. "Well, Steve, I think there's more than one way of looking at it. I think it's more like we both had this rich neighbor named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it." (From Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson Copyright © 2011 by Walter Isaacson)

No successful company, with any integrity, has ever built or maintained a business by having as its core business model, litigation with competitors, as Apple has attempted, rather unsuccessfully, since Steve passed away. Cupertino, it is time to either get back to innovation, or give up and just start sweating the assets like BlackBerry is doing.

Reddit cofounder's crowdfund campaign wants net neutrality billboard in FCC chief's face | PCWorld" . . . Separate from Ohanian’s new campaign, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a liberal advocacy group, launched NoSlowLane.com this week and is urging President Barack Obama to back strong net neutrality rules as he promised during his first presidential campaign. Obama pledged to push for net neutrality rules during a town hall appearance on MTV in 2007, in response to a question from Joe Niederberger, a New Jersey small business owner and former Internet engineer. “I appreciated that promise because it meant a future full of innovation,” Niederberger said on a video posted on the NoSlowLane site. But the new FCC proposal doesn’t live up to those promises, Niederberger said. “The FCC should be making the Internet better for us all, not slowing the Internet down, raising costs and hurting innovation,” he added."
